First of all, thanks to Donna for a wonderful post about our show. I was
astounded that Stan was relatively new to Donna and delighted that the show
and Stan's music connected so completely - not that I'm surprised. After
all, I've come to know that Donna has great musicallity and taste!
Secondly, I want to send a message to Mary O'Brien and others who "would
find it emotionally hard to attend". I think I understand how you feel, but
you should also understand that Stan's biggest desire was to have his music
live beyond him. He would have approved of a show like this because it
presents his music with respect and understanding. "A Matter of Heart"
treats Stan's music as a living, breathing chronical of real people living
real lives. He would be proud of it, I know. And he would have wanted
people like you to attend.
Mary, I have seen audience members cry openly during this show because
Stan's songs touch chords deep inside them - that was his skill as a song
craftsman. If you come, you will also feel these emotional waves, I'm sure,
but that's what it's all about. Stan has left us but his music lives on and
we are all richer for it.
