Hello folks,

Winnipeg-based and Juno-nominated sextet, Scrüj MacDuhk, has been nominated
for the Prairie Music Awards' Outstanding Album (Independent) category and
Outstanding Roots Recording for their 1999 release, "The Road To Canso".

Scrüj MacDuhk is one of Canada's finest and liveliest bands on the
traditional/roots musical landscape today. Their songs reach deep into the
Celtic, French Canadian and southern Appalachian old time string band
traditions, offering a rich ensemble of both high energy, toe-tapping tunes
and beautifully rendered ballads of old.

The band consists of lead singer and bodhran player Ruth Moody, fiddler
Jeremy Penner, banjo player Leonard Podolak, guitarist Jeremy Walsh,
percussionist Christian Dugas, and acoustic bassist Oliver.

The awards will be presented in Saskatoon on October 1 as part of Prairie
Music Week which runs from September 28 to October 1. For information about
PMA's categories and nominees, visit <http://www.prairiemusicweek.com/>.

And if anyone on this list is heading to the Edmonton Folk Festival next
week, the band will be playing there from the 11th-13th. Hope you have a
chance to hear them in their night concert (11th at 6PM) and in workshops
throughout the weekend.
