during the last 2 weeks,i have been fortunate to see garnet 3 times in =
the ny state area.i will give a brief summary of each show.
-july 28-bodles opera house...opening with blue wing,the concert was =
very heartfelt for a disapointingly small turn-out.he did several new =
songs...underpass;where'd you get that dress (?);better days;soldiers =
song(?);and a brand new one:who could have known.the gem of the nite was =
a version of ralph mctells "girl from the hiring fair"..the song was =
very moving.the venue is a little strange and the host was very =
egotistical.still,the performance was great.
-aug.3-hamilton town park....under threatening skies,garnet delivered a =
solid show for an audience who seemed to not know his work,but were =
clearly won over,judging fromcd sales at the end of the nite.beauty game =
made a return appearance with a great story in the middle.my 12 year old =
son was laughing out loud.stormfront was brutal tonite,as was underpass =
and seeds of hope.very hard playing.again,girl from the hiring fair was =
great.garnet really should record his version.
-aug.4-towne crier...opening for bill miller,a foremost native american =
songwriter,you could feel the electricity in the air.garnet was really =
ON...an hour long set featuring the dress song,underpass and =
anunbelievable finish of girl from the hiring fair...small =
victory...soldiers song...and ending with the new who could have =
known...the crowd gave him a rousing ovation.he reappeared at the end of =
bill millers set.YOU MUST GET TO SEE THIS GUY...he is the real deal.they =
seemed to speak very highly of each other in their sets...ending with =
garnet playing lead guitar on the youngbloods "get together"and "folsom =
prison blues"by johnny cash...the cheers and standing ovation was =
impressive.both men had huge smiles as the came off stage.
the final thought is how consistent garnets shows were.he really =
delivered a solid show all 3 times to 3 very different crowds....he is a =
true professional.he is touring a lot this year.try and catch his =
show.it will be a great nite and time and money well spent.hope this is =
helpful.would love to hear from others who have seen garnet over the =
