Thought I would jump in on the discussion re: 'A Matter of Heart'. It seems
some people don't want to go see the show because it 'isn't Stan'. It is
Stan. I saw the original production in Orangeville, & left with a very warm
feeling at the end of the night after hearing all of those great songs. Paul
says that the new production is tighter & better, & I hope to see it this
week. For those who still don't want to go, here is an excerpt from the
foreword from the song book 'Songs From Fogarty's Cove', which Stan wrote:
"I have often been told that people are reluctant to play my songs, even
though they might like to. The reason most often given is that they feel
they should be able to make the songs sound the way I do them. To this I say
'What makes you so sure that my way is the best way? I only wrote the
things. You can make them your own by doing them your way.' I have several
recordings of songs of mine by other artists whose versions I much prefer to
my own, and I am always delighted to hear anyone sing one of my pieces. I
intended all of these songs to be shared, else I would never have recorded
them."
