Victoria Fringe Festival is proud to present Juno Award winner Bill Usher
in "Lover. Father. Husband. Son. Baby Boomer With A Drum!"
Baby Boomer Bill Usher still has the energy to go coast-to-coast!
Last August, Bill brought the house down at the Atlantic Fringe in Halifax.
This month it=B9s Victoria=B9s turn. Performing in the somewhat
appropriately-named venue, Silver Threads, there are 6 Fringe chances to
catch the show.
=B3... Baby Boomer With A Drum!=B2 is all about growing up and growing older.
Over the course of the hour, Bill wrestles with one of life's ironic
questions "How do I tell my kids 'Say No to Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n Roll' when
I said 'Yes'?".
At one point, Bill=B9s character confesses, =B3I never imagined myself growing
up into this two-faced, grey-haired hippie-o-crite!=B2
Stephen Pedersen of the Halifax Chronicle-Herald described Bill=B9s Atlantic
Fringe performance as:
=B3A mesmerizing ramble through the rocky life of a baby boomer... It is
expertly paced and delivered, a funny and touching piece enlivened with
original song and super-charged drumming, in which Usher recalls significan=
t
events of his own journey toward the light of love and understanding. This
show is a big-time Fringe hit.=B2
If you=B9ve got grey hair, or your parents do, then this show is for you.

Bill Usher is a cheeky storyteller, a heartfelt singer and an amazing
drummer. In case you're too young to remember or time (and other, perhaps
illegal, stuff) have played games with the old memory, Bill is the
long-haired hippie who played congas for Bruce Cockburn and recorded dozens
of albums with a who's who of Canadian and US greats over the last thirty
years. You=B9ve heard him hosting on CBC Radio's Touch The Earth.
He's won three Juno Awards, numerous gold and platinum records and other
awards from both sides of the 49th parallel. As a record producer of over 7=
5
albums, he made the Five Little Monkeys squeak for Sharon, Lois & Bram and
directed Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch to sing the blues. He's written a
book on the Mariposa Folk Festival, composed music for film and created the
TV variety series TROUPERS that's been broadcast on television networks
around the world. He's toured Canada from coast to coast to coast with his
first solo show DRUMS! including repeat performances at the prestigious Roy
Thomson Hall in Toronto.
