I finally got out to see Betty and the Bobs and the Oasis the other night!
Oh my god, what a swell band, You get yer Dave Woodhead and yer Suzy Schlagger (sp.) and yer Wendell Ferguson, and Kathryn Wheatley for heavens sake and a fabulous piano player,excellent drummer, one more dynamite singer whose name, dammit, I cannot remember... it's like a stage full of stars but no one has a big ego, and the repertoire is sensational, the vocal harmonies make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, and the playing is divine.

I was truly blown away, and was delighted when they announced they'd be doing a regular first-wednesday-of-the-month gig at the Oasis, which is on College Street in Toronto, just east of the Free Times, starting in September.

If you go, make Wendell and Kathryn tell their all-time-horror-Burk's Falls travel story. Unbelievable.
