Hello Maple people,

This is to let you know about a concert (rare, Toronto) that Bob
Johnston and I will be doing at ARTWORD THEATRE on Saturday, Sept.16, which
is actually quite soon. No, really, they have the Hallowe'en candy out at
Loblaw's -- somebody stop those people. Why can't they live in the past as I
do?
Anyway, this concert is to launch ARTWORD's theatrical season, and
theatre people who are part of that season will do guest spots. Confirmed
are Adam Bramble from "St.Nicholas", Ronald Taylor from Canboulay Dance
Theatre, and Jane Miller from "Disco Goalie". Performers from "Salmon
Miranda" and "The Daughters of Sheherzad" are also expected to take part.

Speaking of daughters, my two, Suzy and Maddy Wilde, will join us
(maybe) on a couple of numbers, likely "My God My Mom" and "Don't Thank Me",
which is about people who LOVE your stuff so much that they copy it for all
their friends.

The witty pianist Bob Johnston and I will do A Bunch of Songs and
attempt to be mildly amusing throughout the evening. There is some new
stuff, including "Twenty-seven Excellent Wishes for you" ("may photographers
never be near you when you're sleeping on a plane" being the main one) and
"Minivan Maxi-mum", about feeling like a loser when you drive adolescents to
the mall. Bet you can't wait!

Since it's basement cleaning time once again, I shall be offering door
prizes. I think the most coveted will be the 800 copies of Doug Wilde's
album. We'll see. First I must find the courage to go into my crawl space.
Please remember me in you prayers.

After the show we can all mingle in the ARTWORD bar, and I can show you
the ring Leonard cohen gave me. Well, he gave one to everyone who went to he
Cohen2000 conference in Montreal. But still!

ARTWORD is a lovely theatre/art gallery complex at 75 Portland Street in
downtown Toronto. It's a block east of Bathurst and it runs south of King.
The theatre is a soft-seater that holds 150. Mais, c'est intime!

Tickets are $20, $15 for students, seniors and arts workers. The show
starts at 8 p.m.

Box office is at (416) 408-2783. You can check out their website at
www.artword.net .
