"in the year 2525, if man is still alive, if woman can survive, they will
find..." remember that? wish i didn't. but the dawn of 2002 finds the
brotherly ones at rancho relaxo for the 1st time, at yvonne matsell's
behest (can't keep a good woman down...)

rancho's a good place. for one, you can have great mexican food downstairs,
with the best margaritas in town (which, ok, may not sound so great if that
was your new year's libation of choice, but just so you know. fresh
squeezed lime juice.) for two, they way the stage is set into the wall, it
looks like the band is playing in the window of one of those advent
calendars (especially if you've had some of those margaritas). for three,
as a venue it's a friend to roots music, a watering hole in the desert.

the facts is:

the brothers cosmoline
fri jan 4
rancho relaxo 300 college (west of spadina, in T.O.), upstairs
10pm b-grass set, with plugged-in sets to follow.

the brothers are john adames (drums), steve briggs (mando/gtr), burke
carroll (dobro/steel), dan kershaw (gtr/singing), & john switzer (bass),
with friends-of-the-brothers kristin briggs (harmony voice) and duncan
fremlin (banjo) sitting in. the band plays original songs rooted in
traditional american folk & country music.
