The European Independent Singles and Tracks Most Popular Chart compiled by
EMS reflects which tracks by non-major label acts are proving to be the most
popular throughout Europe at this time, as voted for by the most influential
country DJs in Europe.

The first chart of the new year sees a familiar name at the top of the
pile - David Ball's "Riding With Private Malone" retains the number one
position for a record-breaking ninth week! It's become the most popular
independent track of the year, and DJs throughout Europe continue to play
and enjoy the song. Can he make it double figures next week?

Plain Loco's "Blue Blue Memory" is back up again, climbing to #2....

[[[[[[[[  but the main challenger for the first new number one song of 2002
is the band The
Undertakin' Daddies with "Isabell" which moves from #8 to
