Just a reply to the recent asinine remarks made by Rick Whitelaw regarding
Penguin Eggs' current survey of Top-10 recordings made last year.
. Penguin Eggs is currently asking a variety of knowledgeable people across
Canada, who heard a substantial amount of folk, roots and world music
recordings in 2001, to list their Top-10 favourites of the past 12 months.
They are also asked to list their three favourite new discoveries. We are
trying to make this as broad-based as possible to reflect the true diversity
of the music and the tastes of those who listen to it. To suggest it's an
attempt for someone else to do my listening for me is sadly, laughable.
Hopefully, we'll have at least 60 contributors from coast to coast for the
poll. The results will be printed in the Spring issue due out March 1.
Regards, Roddy Campbell
