my only first hand info to add here bill is that there are now grants for
songwriting at toronto arts council (in our community) and ontario arts
council, that were not in place back  in 74.  i'm sure you are aware of
these things, but i more readily encourage artists to seek these funds to
help the writing and demoing process, before the CD making stage begins.
perhaps richard davis could comment on anything that might be applicable at
CC.
