Hi all
Rick's post about audience=CD salesrings true but leaves holes as to how to
get to those audiences without touring. Colatterally, it shows the need for
"alternative styled" record companies who can think outside traditional
sales venues. The web is an obvious one but somewhat overwhelming to all
but those who know how to agressive generate traffic. Another creative
solution has been the Solitudes style approach. It follows the rule
audience=CD sales by instantly supplying samples to interested consumers.
Furthermore it does so outside the context of the flood of hype and
promotion and virtual elbow jostling of CDs in traditional record stores.
The trick is, for the record magnate of the touring challenged folk, to
find out how to twin the most logical places these consumers would frequent
other than concerts. The sampler idea has been tried before, but has it
ever been promoted to the public; i.e. a CD sampler inside your income tax
software, or cookie box, or whatever leading to an online store of said
artists.
Just a few thoughts between apple harvest and Carnaval!
