Hello Sugar Campers everywhere:

This Thursday evening (18:00 EST) the Sugar Camp will welcome one of
Canada's greatest voices: Daisy DeBolt. She defies description and
that's why she's so with it. She's got a brand new CD she wants you
all to hear and you'd be a fool not to: it's one of the best things
I've heard in years!

The CD is entitled Living Each Day With Soul, a collaboration with
Toronto Producer / musician Tony Quarrington. It features 9
original songs and one cover, probably won't get much airplay
because it defies logic and time constraints imposed by commercial
radio. But it's a portrait painted by one of the country's most mature,
wisened and talented singers at the peak of her career.

Daisy started out in Winnipeg learning guitar from a young Lenny Breau.
She came to Toronto and worked with Mendleson Joe when he was just Joe
Mendleson. Then the collaborative effort as (Al) Fraser and DeBolt
which included two LPs on Columbia which were dynamite.

Since then she's lived in Sudbury, raised a son, made some excellent
CDs and found a very special place with loads of space to open heads,
sort of like the way Lord Buckley did in the '50s.

She will be in studio, ready to perform, and ready for the world
debut of Live Each Day With Soul (to be released at Hugh's Room on
Saturday, Jan 12). So I wouldn't want to miss this show.

Also: our fourth week of the win-a-drawerful-of-CDs contest. I'll spin
a piece of vinyl and you just have to guess who the artist(s) is/are.
That simple.

And did I miss any of your favourite 'Brown(e)s last week? Let me know
and I'll try to do something about it.

till thursday then...
