Hi Jory:
Yea it looks like there are going to be all kinds of amazing albums out
there this year. I've been going over the budget and seeing how the Foulds'
family can cut back on groceries so that I can increase my CD purchasing
power. I just wanted to let folks know that sometimes the process of making
a CD goes more smoothly than anticipated (in spite of all the horror stories
out there). Rodney went down to Ottawa in October to record with musicians
from the Ottawa area and producer Ian Tambly who worked overtime
perfecting the sound and getting the final version of the tunes ready for
manufacturing. The graphic artist (David Koski) likewise worked amazingly
quickly (OK so I whined and nagged them the whole time) So.... Rodney
Brown's CD which was to be released early in 2002 was actually out in time
for Christmas sales. It was the best Christmas present I got this year!
I've been told that the release date is considered to be the date that the
first CDs are place in retail outlets? Is that so? How do other folks
define their "release date".
Anyway the one thousand and eighty copies of INTO THE WOODS arrived in
Thunder Bay the week before Christmas and were mailed out to the 200 folks
who pre-ordered. We had them in the stores in Thunder Bay before Christmas.
The CD is now available at cdbaby.com; indiepool.com (southern Ontario only)
or through Rodney's website rodneybrown.ca
Watch for details on a double CD release party at Hugh's Room in Toronto on
Wednesday March 13th with Ian Tamblyn and his newest release VOICE IN THE
WILDERNESS & Rodney Brown's INTO THE WOODS.
Ian & Rodney are embarking on The Northern Roots Tour - from Quebec to
Manitoba from March 7th to April 6th - in support of these two new albums.
Next Sept/Oct will see Rodney Brown on the road again as the Way Out West
tour takes him from Thunder Bay to Vancouver Island and home again. Email me
privately for more information on these tours.
Be Well
Liz
