Hi All,

Some information regarding programmes in my portfolio at Canada Council with
a deadline of February 15, 2002.  Specifically of interest to the music
festival community.

Music Festival Travel Grants	

Deadline:	15 February 2002 
(For festivals taking place between 1 June 2002 and 30 November 2002)

- Travel funds are available to help professional Canadian musicians perform
at festivals in regions where they have not previously performed and that
are outside their province or territory of residence.

Music Festivals Progamming Project Grants [UNDER REVIEW]

Deadline:	15 February 2002
(For festivals taking place between 1 June 2002 and 30 November 2002)

- Support is available to assist programming at music festivals that are
presented by Canadian non-profit organizations.  This assistance is intended
to encourage the presentation of work by Canadian artists in the field of
music.

--- IMPORTANT ---  [From the Program Guidelines]

"Assistance is designed to encourage festivals to develop new programming
initiatives, enhance existing programs and introduce Canadian artists from
diverse regions and cultural backgrounds to new audiences.  Contributions
are intended to support original and interpretive programming from Canadian
artists that includes elements of artistic risk and vision, and that
challenges audiences."

A note regarding eligibility for these programs:

Eligible music genres include classical, electro-acoustic, Aboriginal, folk,
jazz, musique actuelle, contemporary and new, world, and other
non-commercial forms of popular music. Artists performing commercial genres
including alternative, country, pop, rock, urban (rap, hip hop and related
"dance" styles), and other forms of music for which an established
industrial infrastructure exists, should contact their provincial music
industry association for information on support available to them.
