Hello hello all you mapleposters in the GTA (that's Greater Traumatic Area
to the rest of you in this vast and beautiful land). Do pick up a copy of
this week's NOW magazine. There's a great article by Tim Perlich on the Be
Bop Cowboys, in advance of their CD launch party at the Cadillac Lounge
tomorrow night.
These guys are a really tight, fun outfit (geez, sounds sort of like a
catsuit,eh?) Their brand of Texas swing is as close as you can get to the
real thing without assuming a drawl, it's uptown hillbilly served with style
and grace. The always-animated Steve Briggs has assembled the hottest
players around, and they've really gotten it together over the last while. I
always imagine that this is the sort of band that folks would catch in
after-hours Printer's Alley clubs in 1950's Nashville. That's when
sharpshooters like Grady Martin, Tommy Jackson and Homer & Jethro would get
together and push the boundaries of country music. Sure is good to take a
sip to as well.
See and hear for yourself when The Be Bops play the Cadillac Lounge for
their big launch tomorrow night!
Cheers,
Colonel Tom
