KEKELI AFRICAN DRUM AND DANCE ENSEMBLE AT THE BAMBOO

KEKELI will be at the Bamboo Club on Thursday, January 24th .
Come and experience fabulous performances of traditional West African
dance and drum music by the Toronto based group KEKELI. Led by Kwasi
Dunyo, master drummer from Ghana, KEKELI will heat up the beat with
high energy "talking drum" music that bypasses the brain and goes
straight to the heart.

KEKELI consists of percussionists and dancers who live and breathe
African music. The incomparable Kwasi Dunyo, winner of a Music Africa
award for Outstanding Traditional Performance, was trained in the
tradition of the great master drummers of West Africa. He has taught
and performed throughout Canada, the United States, and Bermuda and
is currently teaching in the University of Toronto's World Music
Program.

Joining KEKELI this evening will be dancer, drummer and choreographer
Isaac Akrong. Isaac is a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon,
School of Performing Arts. He is now attending York University doing
his Master of Dance degree. Isaac has given many dance workshops and
master classes in the UK. KEKELI is pleased to have Isaac
as guest performer.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to experience real Ghanaian
drumming, dancing, and singing. Audience participation is encouraged!
