Lynn;
I know exactly how you feel. I haven't received a bad review that I'm aware
of but there was some rejection from the trad folk community due to the
production values of Poets and Painters.

The well known RF said "It didn't do anything for me" and yet the cd went on
to get airplay and recognition internationally. So it is a matter of
personal taste.
Writing and performing is an evolution of sorts and if we listen to our
peers, heed good advice and most of all remain true to ourselves we will not
only improve but find the path that works for each of us. ...for everyone is
unique and it takes time.

I can only say that you can't please all the people all the time and it's
nothing personal. Most people would like to see you succeed but none of us
has the perfect formula for that. Write what you feel and feel when you
sing. The rest will fall into place.

Personally I saw you at the Tears of a Thousand Years concert and enjoyed
what you did.

...and for what it's worth, Ariel says it's a shame you only had one song
because she wanted to hear more. There ya go!

Cheers,
Scott Cameron Smith

> Hi everyone,

> Here's a topic! This morning I accidentally discovered a negative review
of my work (well, it was mixed really, but not exactly glowing) on an
Internet site that, to my knowledge, I didn't even submit to. The shock,
the horror! I'm feeling a little blue about it and wonder how any of you
have coped with negative reviews (that is, if you've ever gotten any ;>).
Do these things matter? Does anybody care? Does anybody know any
assassins?
