         More folks listen to Celine Dion, Brittney Spears and 'N Sync than 
to any of the "folk" artists whose names commonly crop up on this 
list.  According to Angela, they "must be folk music."

         I think not.  A term like "folk music" has to mean something if it 
is to have any meaning.

         BTW, I liked David Bradstreet's earlier posting about Bon Jovi and 
Cooder.  Whether or not a song is played on acoustic vs. electric 
instruments has little to do with whether it is, or is not, folk music.
