Hello Mapleposters:
I've seen an increase this past week of two types of problems with posting
to Maplepost. Please skim and if you have questions send me a note
off-list to gene@wilburn.ca
1. Non-member submissions
2. Taboo body match
NON-MEMBER SUBMISSIONS
Several this week. If you send a post to Maplepost and it doesn't arrive,
this may apply to you. The usual problem is that the email address you're
sending from is not the email address you're subscribed to for Maplepost.
We have purposely made this a closed list to prevent the quite sizeable
amount of spam that gets sent to Maplepost (and rejected) on a daily
basis.
Maplepost is extremely literal. Your sending email address must match
EXACTLY with your subscribed address, or you get rejected. The problem is
that you don't receive back a notice telling you you've made a non-member
submission. It just disappears into the ether (and into my inbox :-)
Here's a question for the list. Since I see these, would you like me to
forward any non-member submissions to the address you posted from so you
can see there's a problem? This won't happen in real time because I don't
get to my personal and Maplepost email until after 6pm most working days.
TABOO BODY MATCH
This is an ongoing issue and there have been several occurences this week.
Maplepost WILL NOT ACCEPT postings in HTML, period. On this one, however,
you DO get feedback. If you get the following message
Subject: BOUNCE maplepost@icomm.ca: taboo body match
"/^content-type:\s.*html/i" at line 152 [or whatever]
this applies to you. It means that you've tried to post a message that
contains HTML. Here's a link to the fix for most popular email programs:

Sorry to keep bothering the majority of you who are posting with no
difficulty, but I have to keep repeating this to the list because I don't
often have the time to work with each incident individually.
Cheers, and back to music,
Gene
