Well, I guess I will delurk to get in on this love fest. I am a very
mediocre guitar player. In fact using the expression mediocre is rather
flattering to me. But, I love banging away at one of these stringed
blues chasers. A couple of years ago a divested myself of a much loved
Gibson J45 and took a chance on a new guitar maker in the area(Alcona,
Ont). Had hit middle age and decided I needed a wild fling. Since I
couldn't afford a Porche and/or girlfriend(besides my wife has no sense
of humour in that direction) I had a guitar built for me by Larry
Shannon. He is a student of Sergei de Jong. This is a simple and
beautiful instrument made of Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce with a
Mahogany neck and an Ebony fretboard. The memory of that old Gibson has
been lost somewhere in the deep(?)recesses of my mind as I wail away on
my Shannon Guitar. Twenty-five years from now I expect I'll still be a
lousy player but, that guitar will have aged better than me.

"listen to the strings, they jangle and dangle while the old guitar rings."
