Great thread! Love reading everyone's instrument story. How about some posts 
on  other instruments too?

My first serious instrument was/is a '41 Kay bass which I bought at a US 
festival in 1971 and snuck back across the border. Ed Ferris, playing bass 
with the Country Gentlemen at the time, was kind enough to try it out and 
give it his seal of approval before I laid all my cash on the picnic table. I 
still have "Gretchen".

Anyone know the song "Woody Lady"? For my money one of the great songs about 
the relationship between a player / the instrument / and the need to make 
music.
