I've just been reading this thread for a day. Strikes me that a lot of these
guys also made other wonderful and legendary instruments. Darryl Perry makes
Daniel Koulack's banjos or did, and one of Koulack's early banjos, a
beautiful beast, was made by Jake Neufeld. I play an open back five string
built originally by Clay Hepburn when he was still working summers at the
Winnipeg Folk Festival. The original neck died so Bob Harley of Harley's
Music up here in Parry Sound built me a new neck. He's Craig Harley's dad
and builds wonderful electric instruments (bass, guitar, mandolin).I have a
dulcimer of Fret Casey's, who moved from Snow Lake to Souris. Doesn't Mr.
Podolak own a banjo neck built by Larivee? Just thought this was all getting
a little guitarcentric. Bartlett
